Forestry Feeds Nova Scotia
2020 has been a difficult year for everyone with a lot of unexpected turn of events. This year more than ever food donations are needed as many families have been impacted financially by the global pandemic. This is the little that we could do to help out, what can you do?

Hemlock Woolly Adelgid Surveys
Hemlock Woolly Adelgid has impacted our forests here in Western Nova Scotia. Although there are no clear ways of how to mitigate the infestation we are hoping to find a way to develop strategies through silviculture treatments that will lessen the negative impacts of HWA.

Christmas on the LaHave
WestFor staff was lucky enough to be a part of the Christmas on the LaHave parade! The many hours put into making wooden tree ornaments were well worth it to hear countless children’s excitement to a real-life Christmas tree in the bed of our truck!

Log-A-Load for Kids
If raising a child takes a village, then helping multiple children takes a nation. We are fortunate enough to live in a country where people in the forest industry/sector can band together to help make Miracles. This past summer we helped with the Log-a-Load for kids and we are looking forward to doing it again in 2020!

Tree Planting
A great way to get kids interested in the health of their community is to plant something that they can watch grow! Our WestFor staffer Makyle planted 5500 trees in 2019 with two Scout troops to get the kids outdoors and involved!
