In October we partnered with the Mersey Tobiatic Research Institute and the Medway Community Forest Co-op to test the role of silviculture in mitigating the impacts of hemlock wooly adelgid (HWA) on eastern hemlock and biodiversity in Southwest Nova Scotia.
MTRI & the MCFC have conducted surveys on private land and one of our field staffers assisted Mary Jane & her summer student Heba with the surveys on public land.
The next steps will include establishing plots and conducting silviculture treatments.
