In May of 2019 WestFor embarked on two tree planting projects with local scout troops in Nova Scotia.
The first of which was with a local Bridgewater troop. The Local Bridgewater scout troop has been planting an old Crown land harvest block located in Petite Riviere for the past few years. This year the scouts and two WestFor employees braved the rain and mud to plant 2500 trees.
Near the end of the month two WestFor employees and 100 scouts from the Halifax area braved the black flies and planted 3000 trees on a Crown land harvest in the St Margret’s Bay woodlands. All the scouts had a great time and was good for them to connect with the forest and watch the trees as they get older.
Other plantings have included tree planting with New Germany Rural High School students for the past two years. Each year we have planted 2000 trees.
